Chocolatified........... Chocolate Baked Alaska

Who can get enough of chocolates? Whether it's a simple slab of a chocolate or a creamy chocolate pie or mousse, everyone will love it simply because it's chocolate. A small bite of chocolate can cheer you up in no time. It's scientifically possible as chocolate contain chemicals that can make you feel happy and comfortable.  So we thought of presenting some choco recipes this July, a great way to enjoy your 4th of July with your loved ones and get chocolatified starting off today with delicious Chocolate Baked Alaska!!!



Chocolate Baked Alaska

Ingredients
125g flour
4 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tbsp baking powder
125g Margarine
125g Sugar
4 eggs
1 tbsp Vanilla
1 tbsp Brandy
1 tbsp Strawberry jam
2 pints of chocolate ice cream

For the Meringue
3 egg whites
100g of sugar


Method
  1. In a large bowl, beat Margarine, sugar and eggs well. Sift flour, cocoa powder and baking powder together three times and slowly add it to the earlier mixture. Add the Vanilla for taste and smell.
  2. Apply some margarine on your baking tray, ( a round one) pour the mixture and bake for 30 minutes. When baked, let it cool. Place the cake in an oven proof tray, soak with brandy and apply jam. 
  3. Keep your ice cream refrigerated in a container 1 cm smaller in diameter than the cake. Unmold the frozen ice cream on top of the cake. 
  4. For the meringue, beat the egg whites until very stiff and slowly add sugar and beat again until it appears glossy. Cover the cake and ice cream with swirls of meringue and bake until the tips get brown.
