Quest Of Nostalgia... Chapter 1

"Two scoops of Choco mint ice cream with chocolate sauce please"
Cyndi ordered her favorite at Ben & Jerry's. It was the only place she knew in the town by far for it has been only 5 days since her arrival at her uncle Sam's in Highlands. She hated the fact that every summer she was due to spend it away from home because Joanne; her mother has to devote herself for the researches she's been carrying on. That's how life is if you have a determined and dedicated scientist with the prospect of saving the world for a mother. Life was already a chapter of misery and Cyndi missed her bestie Katie back at home and above all a deep wound within her heart was still not fully recovered. It is a very hard thing to restart your life after falling from the top stair of happiness. For Cyndi, her happiness was with her father who was her mentor, friend and above all her trainer who accidentally left this world taking all the happiness with him.
If it was 5 years ago, Cyndi would love to be here but now Uncle Sam's is a modern version of hell for her. She spent most of the time inside her room writing in her journal or reading books or sometimes just staring at the mountains and forest beside the house listening to the sound of horses in the backyard. Uncle Sam has two horses named Lola and Clip. Cyndi won't go near them because they reminded her so much of her father and the times they used to spend together. Cyndi was trained for horseback riding since she was 7 by her father who loved horses very much. Living in New York and rearing animals was not possible so they used to visit Uncle Sam once in a fortnight. Cyndi was taught to love animals, to treat them as brothers and sisters, care for them at all times but now she hardly tried to look at them even.

"Cyndi" called Uncle Sam.
Cyndi went down stairs where Uncle Sam was. Uncle Sam had this amazing library full of books of stories, facts and legends of horses. He was there holding a book looked like ancient log when Cyndi came down.
"Settle down Cyndi. I want to talk to you"
Cyndi knew where this going to end so she started "Please uncle Sam, we've been through this about a hundred times and I don't won't anyone trying to baby sit me. For god's sake, I'm 16!!! And...”
"I'm not going to try and baby sit you C, I'm here to talk something else. Please give me 10 minutes and you''' not regret it."
Cyndi did not fight back so taking advantage, Uncle Sam carried on.
“You know how your dad felt about horses right?... He wanted to tell you a story but you were not old enough at that time but I think it's time you know it C."
"What are you talking about?"
"Well, actually it is forbidden to foretell the legend but you must find it out yourself like a quest. So I thought this might help you. This was your Granddad’s. He gave it to your father and your father gave it to me before..... Well it is yours now. Use it well C"
Cyndi stood perplexed at what just happed for she did not understand a single word he said. But somehow it sounded like to take that old book and read it. So she took it and quietly went into her room.
Cyndi was afraid to open the book. But it was dads. "How could he not give it to me back then??" With thoughts streaming down her head, Cyndi opened the book and started to read.
27th Aug, 1949....
So the story begins.......
