"There is a water crisis today. But the crisis is not about having too little water to satisfy our needs. It is a crisis of managing water so badly that billions of people - and the environment - suffer badly."
World Water Vision Report
What do you think about water???? This is a simple question even the kids of five can answer. But if you think deep you will find an answer that will almost knock you off from your feet. Water is considered as a renewable source but today we can hardly say so. Water is one of the few essential factors all living things need. Therefore it is a vital factor determining the life on earth. Although most of our planet's surface is covered by oceans, only 1% is available as potable water which we can use. Very recently our world population passed the 7 billion milestone. Will all this 7 billion people have enough drinking water???
Apart from drinking purposes water has many other major purposes. We use water to clean ourselves, wash all most everything we use and not only that, many industries use water as raw material. And most of the time, waste and industrial effluents are released as dissolved substances in water. Water is like some sort of a currency, the difference is that we know the value of money but not that of water.

Not only that many of us fill our glasses full when we want to drink water but we drink only half and throw the other half away. If we go on making a list of how we waste water, it will be longer than anyone's shopping list. Most of the reasons are domestic but fewer industrial problems have major influences on this too. Because of unsafe release of industrial effluents to the environment, natural water resources like springs, streams, rivers get polluted. As water is a flowing material, absorbed by all most anything, the surrounding gets polluted pretty quickly. If it is rivers and streams, the aquatic life forms dies, eventually even the humans can get affected from these. However this problem is somewhat solved today because it is strictly advised that before releasing industrial effluents to the environment, they should be treated under proper waste water treatment.
Why is it essential that we must protect water???
It is essential, no doubt in that, that we have to conserve it and use it rationally because we get water every single day just as we want it but there are actually human beings who don't even get a single drop of water a day. Believe me, most of the African countries are first to suffer from the water crisis even today. We might be the next victims if we don't act now. Someone can ask, why can't we use other sources like glaciers and underground water???? No, we can't my dears we can't because, that would be highly expensive and underground water has the risk of high contamination with poisonous and toxic substances which will also cost a lot to purify them.
What can we do to conserve water????

Save water.. save yourselves.... Consider water as your best friend because,
Water is everybody's responsibility....
