It's been 10 days since the most awaited dawn of 2012 and what have we seen as a change in this year???? Some may define that this new year is a big happening in their lives as they are going to get married or expecting their first child or even a big success in their business. Well they are physical factors. What about mental??? Many of us will be changing the attitude, the way we see the world or even over come the pains and sorrows we have faced in last year. Whatever it is, everybody is expecting a change in their lives with the change of years. I'm not saying that it's bad but if you look back these 10 days, what have changed????
An year begins with an ending of another year. We count the days and mark them as weeks, months and years so that every 365 or 366 days is an year. Basically we intend to refresh ourselves every 365 or 366 days which is pretty cool actually. Not only that, in Sri Lanka, we celebrate new year in April according to Sinhala rituals and Tamil population according to their Tamil rituals. There is a popular saying that "New year is time to forget and forgive". So whenever it's new year in Sri Lanka, all the relatives and friends, neighbours get together and celebrate new year as one family forgetting the misunderstandings in the previous year. No matter whether it is January or April, Forget and Forgive should be the moral we carry to the next year from the last.
Anger, Hatred, Jealousy are ugly affairs we tangle ourselves with or without our knowledge but we can get rid of them easily if we think of forget and forgive. Every man and woman make mistakes, that's human nature and nobody is perfect. We learn these stuff by heart but we never apply them when the situation comes. It's a matter of practice after all. Try it by practicing it with your family, your spouse, your children. Forgiving does not make us weak. We learn to let go of wrong doings and believe me, forgiving can sometimes be the worst punishment you give to the wrong doer. Forgiving leads to remorse which eventually will make them learn their mistakes.
Welcome 2012.... Forget & Forgive...........
