What is Gastritis?
It is basically the inflammation of the lining or the inner wall of your stomach causing a pain in the upper part of your belly. It can be a sudden acute gastritis condition or a chronic gastritis condition that will prevail for a long time. It has so many responsible causes.
What causes it??
As I said earlier it has many causes. Here are some of them so you can get a general idea.
- Medication like Aspirin and Aspirin associated drug products, Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, Prescription steroids, Potassium supplements, Iron tablets, Cancer chemotherapy medications etc.
- Swallowed objects like paper clips, pins
- Acids and acidic food
- Stress
- Alcohol consumption
- Smoking
- Infections like Tuberculosis, Syphilis, Bacterial infections, Viral infections, Fungal (yeast) infections and Parasites and worms.
- Critical conditions of some patients who are severely ill
- After medical procedures like endoscopy
- After an operation to remove a part of the stomach
- After radiation treatment for cancer
- Autoimmune diseases
- Pernicious anemia
- Chronic vomiting
- Skipping meals especially breakfast
- Over dieting and lack of water

How do we identify it??? Symptoms
- The pain in the upper central portion of the abdomen this pain which can be a cutting, sharp or a burning feeling.
- Belching
- Nausea and vomiting
- Bloating
- Feeling of fullness or burning in the upper part of the belly
- Bleeding may occur in severe gastritis.
- Sweating, and rapid heart beat.
- Feeling faint or short of breath
- Chest pain or severe stomach pain
- Bloody bowel movements or dark, sticky, very foul-smelling bowel movements
Prevention is better than cure
If any of the above symptoms prevail you have to seek medical assistance at once. If you are a regular Gastric patient, study your disease pattern and identify what causes the illness to you. Although there are general causes like skipping meals there may be some other causes that are specific only to you. Whenever you are prescribed for a disease make sure you tell your doctor that you have gastritis so that your doctor will provide you medicine in accordance with that.
Avoid acidic and spicy food that will initiate gastritis. Also refrain from alcohol, and smoking at all costs if you care about yourself.
What most of us do is skipping meals when we think we don't have enough time. But make sure you take a bite before you leave for work or school. Consider it as important as breathing.
